$4 Gas, Should I get rid of my SUV?

At Lindsay Acura we hear this question alot, so I will answer it with this short story. I had a good friend come to me wanting to trade in his Tahoe, that was getting bad gas mileage. His wife was driving about 12,000 miles a year and every time they filled the tank it cost them over $100! He was wanting something small that would help them get better gas mileage, keep his payments the same and would put any amount necessary up to $7,000 cash down to do so.

Wow Nelly! Slow down here...why are we getting rid of the Tahoe? He replied, "To save gas" and why are we trying to save gas? "To save money!" and then it hit him and the light went off. He was willing to part with 2 years worth ($7,000 in a Tahoe), to save 20-30% on fuel. He was also willing to sacrifice an extremely nice comfortable and roomy vehicle for one that would not ride as nice, would not be as safe and would not have the amenties he wanted all in the name of gas!

Do not lose site of the big picture in getting rid of your SUV! Figure out creative ways you can manage your fuel use more effectively by mapping out your destinations before you go, driving slower, limiting the Air Conditioning use, and simply driving less. SUV owners will find that when they do this they will find that they will be visiting the pump less and using their mind to save on gas instead of their wallet.

Now for the plug...for those that are wanting to buy an SUV it really is a smart time to do so, prices have been falling significantly and manufacturers such as Acura have been releasing APR specials to help offset higher fuel costs. SUV's are safer more convenient and sit up high for drivers to see better. Now some SUV's get better gas mileage than others and fortunately our 2008 and Certified 2003-2006 Acura MDX happens to be one of them. The main reason is due to the MDX 5 Speed Automatic transmission, along with a long heritage of fuel sipping ULEV vehicles from Honda.

Now is the opportunity to get a new or used Acura MDX 7 passenger vehicle that is All wheel drive with interest rates as low as 0.9% APR through AHFC.
