Finally the Power is Back On?

Forutnately Lindsay Acura was free from the mess of power loss that so many of us faced last week, this week and and even now. It is amazing how much you learn to appreciate something so basic for us here in America, yet I think there can be a positive outlook with the power loss we all faced. Instead of families gathering around the blue glow of the television set, board games were played. Instead of people complaining about their neighbors, extension cords were strung across streets. Ice was no longer something we needed for a social occassion, but rather a necissity that was much appreciated. How many caravans of electric crews with their boom trucks and wire wheels did you see? I think we all felt amazed as we saw those crews pull into town to fix our powerless situation. Was the power outage all that bad? It seems that Central Ohio pulled together, once again showing how much we care for eachother. Sometimes it is nice to know that there are so many nice people living around us.

9/11 Day to Remember

In all the hustle and bustle of working hard, Lindsay Acura would like to pause and remember the tragedy that plagued our country not so long ago. It is important to remember the innocent families and service men and women who lost their lives. It is also important to remember how our country united to help one another. It seems that even here in Columbus everyone knew someone who dropped everything here in Columbus to drive to New York just to do anything to help. How about the large corporations in New York helping their competitors use their facilities to work from. Or do you remember the celebrity telethon that raised money for victim families? This is the country we live in, a country where the people are nice, freedom rings, and in God We Trust.

Leasing or Buying?

Almost always leasing. Simple quick straight to the point answer. Now here is the reasons why:
-Leasing protects you from vehicle value deflation. This is the main reason Chrysler is no longer in the leasing business anymore, because it pays off for the consumer. When you lease a vehicle you are basically only financing a portion of the vechicle (the selling price minus the residual or Guaranteed Future Value, plus some interest and rent fees). The Guaranteed Future Value protects you from the vehicle you purchased from ever being worth less than the Residual amount. So for example you buy a car for $30,000 and the residual is $18,000 after 36 months, you are protected from the vehicle being worth less than $18,000 at that point. If in fact it is worth less than the residual value of $18,000 the bank will take it back and dispose of the vehicle for you. Hence you are protected.
-You get a new vehicle every 3-5 years! You now have the latest gadgets, safety items and coolest looks all the time!
-Payments are generally lower. Because you are only financing a portion of the vehicle you are essentially financing less money, thus your payments are generally lower.
-You only pay taxes on the portion you use! With a lease in Ohio, you only have to pay the amount of sales tax on the amount you will use. So if you plan on 3 years of use, then you will pay taxes based on the total amount you will have paid for 3 years of use!
-Acura wants you to lease. Because Acura builds vehicles for Lindsay Acura to sell to you they want to build more and more every year. Instead of applying millions of dollars to a 30 second superbowl advertisement, they will apply those marketing dollars towards a lease! Thus knowing that you will probably buy or should I say Lease another Acura. They will entice you with their great payments and excellent deals.
-Acuras have high resale values. This works well for you because your monthly expenditure can actaully be lower for a nicer car because you would be financing less money. Simple.

Now I must say that their is a large group of people that actually want to "own" their cars. They just do not feel comfortable with the bank owning it and would rather finance it or "buy". Understand that until you have the title to the car by either paying cash or paying off a loan you do not have full rights to the ownership until all liens are released from the title. At the end of a lease (most of the time) you have the option to purchase the vehicle, rather than turn it in.

MDX the Gas Saver?

Hard to believe but probably true, when comparing the Acura MDX to any Truck based SUV such as a Tahoe, Escalade, Sequoia, or GX 470. Name one other vehicle that can carry 7 passengers, has all wheel drive, and gets an EPA estimated 20-24 MPG (Highway 2008 and 2004 Model Years). I personally just drove 750 mile round trip and averaged 22.7 MPG doing mostly free way driving, that is impressive for an AWD vehicle that can hold 7 people. To put it in perspective imagine a one gallon milk jug and the size that it is, then imagine the distance of 20+ miles out of a one gallon jug of gasoline. That is alot of distance for such a small amount of fuel, especially in an MDX!

Currently we have seen a large spike in SUV buyers that normally want a truck based SUV are now looking at our New and Certified MDX's mainly because gas mileage, but also because of the incentives we have on them (0.9% for 36 months and 2.9% up to 60 months on New and Certified MDX with approved credit through American Honda Finance).

If you are looking for a sensitive alternative to the large truck based SUV then go with the Acura MDX, the ride, the quality, the design, the safety it really is the best in overall value.

Welcome Mopar Fans!

For those of us that are not familiar with the Mopar and Brice Road it is probably one of the more interesting gatherings in Columbus. Every year thousands of Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth fans from allover the USA, show up for the annual Mopar Nationals at National Trail Raceway. This event brings everyone from Joe Dirt to Jay Leno out for this fun filled drag racing, car show and swap meet event. After all of the excitement at the track during the day, the most fun happens at night all along Brice Road. Imagine this...Brice Road turn into a parking lot with people in lawn chairs lined up on both sides of the street for about ½ mile, tires burning rubber, police everywhere, people cheering, and cops getting booed. The best is at the hotels, especially the hotel located right behind Lindsay Acura. Let me set the stage as you cruise in your family car and all of sudden your stuck in a line of traffic slowly creeping towards a crowd of people gathered around a bonfire. You see masses of people with their video cameras walking allover towards the glow of...Oh no! You slowly turn the corner and realize your next in line to drive through the fire! All you see is smoke bellowing and red glow from the car that was in front of you. The smoke dissipates and suddenly your wife looks at you and the light bulbs go off as you see a ball capped out of towner making a circling motion with his hands while looking at your wheels. Thoughts and questions fly through your head...Will this ruin my transmission? Darn, I just replaced these tire, but then a sigh of relief as you look down and relize your driving an Acura, and that “If it ain't got no Hemi or Mopar, you better get out!”

My encouragement is if you have never seen or even believe what I am telling you, just experience for yourself and enjoy this cultural experience that may be different than going to a ballet or an art festival, who knows you might even refer to it as the Annual Mopar Festival!
